The best way to build up an extensive library of fonts for customization is to have a few go-to sites ready to browse.
As I’ve discussed before, building up a diverse library of fonts is crucial for any personalization business. There are many places to download a font for free, but here are a few that I recommend. Make sure to check the license of the font you’re downloading as most free fonts come with limited licenses. If you’re planning on using the font commercially, be sure the license allows for it.
- Google Fonts is home to an extensive library of 900 font families. Used by web designers for reliable font hosting, Google Fonts are also downloadable. All fonts are open-source, and you can use them in any project.
- 1001 Fonts showcases over 18,000 fonts for downloading. Looking for a retro or modern font? Just browse the categories and find a perfect fit. Most of the fonts are available for free for personal use, and links for commercial licensing are provided.
- Font Squirrel offers a collection of downloadable fonts in an easy-to-follow list. Most of the font families have commercial licenses available, and at least one font in the font family is free for commercial use.
