What factors determine the amount of time it takes to laser engrave a project?

This varies on several things including:

  • The size of engraving; the intricacy of the graphics
  • The DPI (dots per inch) at which the image/text is engraved (a higher DPI takes longer than a lower one)
  • The wattage of the laser system (a higher wattage system engraves faster than a lower wattage laser)
  • The speed and power settings used

For example, a simple luggage tag with contact information will take 1-2 minutes, whereas an 8″ X 10″ photograph with a great amount of detail can take 10-15 minutes.
