Can I use any DTG ink in any DTG printer?

Inks are developed specifically for certain types of print heads, so swapping any ink with any printer could cause expensive damage to your system.

There are different thicknesses of inks (viscosity) to consider as well as different chemistries like UV or water-based pigments. UV inks are harsher on a print head, and if it’s paired with a non-compatible print head, it won’t be long until it needs to be replaced.

Generally, there are three viscosities of inks discussed in the industry: low, mid, and high. If the ink isn’t thick enough, it will drip out of the head. If it is too thick, it will clog the nozzles in the head. Always make sure the ink you’re considering is compatible with the head technology you are using.
