The Alexandria, Virginia-based International Digital Enterprise Alliance, better known as Idealliance, announces an upcoming webinar this Friday, April 19, entitled, “REALITY CHECK! Brands, Color Tolerances, and Machine Capability.”

The webinar is part of its new global packaging supply chain printer facility audit certification program. The certification is called BrandQ Certified Supply Chain Facility.

The BrandQ Certified Supply Chain certification is a third-party assessment that examines key aspects of a facility, such as process capability, performance, process control, color management, ISO Standards, proof and press alignment, spot color rendering, pre-media capabilities, G7 calibration, and includes detailed reports and analysis.

The company says the webinar is designed to help print shops meet the high standards put on them by brands. Many high-end brands have color tolerances that are extremely tight and industry trends show these tolerances getting tighter, the nonprofit says, adding that many printers have difficulty achieving these tight brand tolerances, and many say they are not even possible.

“In this webinar we take a look at what are considered tight tolerances, and compare these to average machine capabilities,” Idealliance says. “It is said, good color costs more, but how much more? What happens when hitting the brand standard is not even possible.”

Topics to be touched on include:

  • Examples of tight brand tolerances
  • How to determine machine capability
  • What happens when a tolerance is not achievable
  • Strategies for managing brand tolerances

The event will be moderated by Ron Ellis, brand expert and chairman of the Idealliance Print Properties & Colorimetric Council and Timothy Baechle, the CEO of Idealliance. Panelists include Pat Pagani, director of operations at Essentra; and Jack Frank, color process manager, North America, for Westrock-MPS.

The webinar is Friday, April 19, from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time.
