What is the proper way to cool a sublimated mug?

Allowing a mug to cool slowly can result in a degraded image due to outgassing – the evaporation of ink from the mug’s surface.

I recommend placing hot mugs in front of a powerful fan to cool. A few years ago, I suggested dipping mugs in water; however, I have since learned from Bob Elliott, one of the inventors of the sublimated mug, that this might cause micro fractures in the ceramic.
