The “Small Market” of Small Signage

Hint: think miniature.

I discovered a small market (pun intended) for tiny signage for train sets and Christmas villages. They are typically HO scaled; however, I have researched the other primary scales to size signs appropriately. A favorite is a town welcome sign such as “Welcome to Smallville” and “Thanks for Visiting Smallville.” The town name is often the family’s last name or the town someone grew up in. Other favorites are signs to go on buildings. Some like to name a business after a child or based on their favorite hobby, such as “Tim’s Bait Shop.” I researched sign shapes and designed a few of my own. They can be engraved and cut out of two-ply acrylic or thin wood. I bought small wood dowels at a hobby or crafts store to use for sign posts. They can also be cut from solid-color sheet acrylic.
