SIOUX FALLS, S.D.-JDS Industries announces a flurry of facility-related activity in recent months to further serve its customers.

Along with additions to its headquarters, the company relocated its Illinois and Michigan warehouses.

“We filled the existing locations to capacity, and in order to serve our customers to the best of our ability, we needed to expand,” says Bill Ambroz, JDS warehouse operations manager.

According to Ambroz, the process to move started several months to a year in advance. From site selection to lease negotiation, permitting, and the actual relocation-it was a time-consuming process. During this time, JDS limited interruptions to customers by serving them from one of the company’s other 13 locations.

The company says its employees handled the moves internally with minimum downtime for each location. “We pull from each of our existing locations an individual or two to assist,” Ambroz explains.

Last fall, JDS installed a 20,000-square-foot addition to connect its two warehouses in Sioux Falls, bringing the headquarters space to 255,000 total square feet.

Recently, the company relocated its Chicago-area facility to Addison, Illinois, from Elk Grove Village. Doing so, the company upgraded to 87,000 square feet, 35,000 more than it had in Elk Grove.

JDS’ Detroit-area location is now in Brownstown, Michigan, where it occupies 78,000 square feet of space, which is 33,200 more than it had in Romulus, Michigan.

The company also plans to relocate its Dallas location in September of this year.
