How has the awards industry been affected by evolving changes in marketing practices?

The awards business has grown and expanded into other venues – promotional products, groups, schools, and other small businesses are using awards and recognition like they never would have 25 years ago. The marketplace is open to new ideas and media. By this I mean we all now sell column trophies that would have never been accepted by the public years ago. The public wanted real wood, metal, brass, and marble, but now, because of budgets, they will accept lesser-quality products in order to meet their budget.
