How do I know if I’m ready to add another production capability to my offerings?

The main way to determine if you are ready to add another production capability to your menu is if your customer base is asking for it. This shows that you have a market to support it. Once your market has made you aware, it is time to determine how you can adapt this capability to your current situation. While doing so, take things like space, workload responsibility, staff education, and maintenance into consideration.

After gaining a better understanding of how you could handle this new capability, it is time to go over the financials. Remember, you always want to position yourself to take care of your customers’ needs, and you always prefer to be your customers’ first and last call, but you never want to put your business in jeopardy by taking on a liability. If you can check off the appropriate boxes, are comfortable with the answers, and see positive results, it’s time.

Here’s to planning, the root of success!
