CLEVELAND-PolyOne Corporation teams up with the United Way of Greater Lorain County to build Little Free Libraries. The company joined the foundation at Lorain local headquarters on Aug. 8 for the project.

According to local news outlet The Chronicle, 19 employees from the company volunteered their time with the organization. The Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that promotes literacy nationwide. Typically, the libraries are small, mailbox-sized bins filled with donated books from the community. Residents fill and take books from the libraries on a ‘take one, leave one’ understanding. With the collaboration, PolyOne and the United Way built libraries to help underserved areas in Lorain County and help improve literacy in those zip codes.

PolyOne partners regularly with United Way for community projects varying from cleanup to construction initiatives. In 2017, the company joined forces with the organization to help restore a local park in the city of Lorain with maintenance, landscaping, and repair work.
