WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-HanesBrands appoints Scott Lewis as interim chief financial officer. Lewis currently serves as chief accounting officer and controller for the company.

Lewis has served IN his current positions since 2015, and HanesBrands credits him with managing “increasing responsibility leading the accounting, reporting, and tax functions since joining the company in 2006.” Before joining HanesBrands, Lewis worked for tax consulting firm KPMG. Lewis’ background also includes experience as a certified public accountant, expertise in public company auditing, merger and acquisition transactions, and Securities and Exchange Commission accounting and reporting requirements.

“We have a very strong global finance organization,” says CEO Gerald W. Evans Jr. “Scott is an accomplished finance professional well versed with our company and strategies. He will provide essential leadership during this transition.”

The news comes on the heels of chief financial officer Barry A. Hytinen’s departure from the company late last month. HanesBrands originally announced the news in November 2019 and is currently considering internal and external candidates to fill the role permanently.
