For decorators of all sizes, it’s essential to offer a unique twist on products and services to bring value to customers and grow business. Here are five tips for creating eye-catching embroidery artwork for eager clients.

1. Mixed media

There’s nothing more captivating than a layered, multimedia design. A garment that features elements of DTG, embroidery, and crystals takes the viewer on a visual journey of color, texture, depth, and shine. In turn, a customer’s brand is noticed and remembered by its target audience.

2. Borders and shadows

To add depth to an otherwise conventional text logo, add borders or shadows to the design. While the stitch count does increase, a subtle detail like this makes the text appear raised. Variable borders and other programmed runs can transform a static logo of standard stitches into a visually appealing design.

3. Fresh fonts

Most embroiderers have fonts they go to time and time again through lettering software or font generator tools. Using different fonts is a simple way to add a fresh look.

4. Intricate fill patterns

For larger pieces, change the spacing and alignment of the fill stitch penetrations to create textures and patterns. Decorative stitch types such as special satin, stem, and candlewicking help populate larger areas with patterned stitching and added texture.

5. Specialty threads

Threads like metallic, iridescent, variegated, and glow-in-the-dark bring personality to garments and help customers tell their story. A band may prefer to highlight tour merch with metallics, while an upscale client may call for something that appears velvety.

Encourage staff embroiderers and digitizers to experiment with new things. By offering innovative ideas and quality products, shops will stand out among other embroiderers in the industry.
