Long gone are the days where people would do their own ledger; QuickBooks makes it easier to do the accounting. QuickBooks is the standard, at least in the United States. Sage 50 (formerly known as Peachtree) is another accounting software that is not as widely used.
If you do employ an accounting service where you make entries into a program, typically then, the cost of the bookkeeping software is the responsibility of your accountant. You don’t have to buy any program, as long as you hire an accountant that has their own version of one. Then all you have to do is provide the numbers that will eventually be put into the company’s ledger.
