Luminous Neon, with locations throughout Kansas, is the grand prize winner of the 2023 Watchfire LED Sign Awards. Watchfire recognized the company for its contributions to the sign industry for The Clayworks, Hutchinson, Kansas, an entrepreneurial venture of Disability Supports of the Great Plains.

Now in its ninth year, the Watchfire LED Sign Awards recognize Watchfire dealer partners who best showcase the capabilities of outdoor digital advertising. Founded in 2014, the annual awards recognize on-premise signs installed between Sept. 1, 2022, and Aug. 31, 2023, that display excellence in design, legibility of digital messages, and advertising effectiveness.

The winning sign at The Clayworks is a re-imagination of an existing monument display featuring an internally illuminated double-faced routed push-through logo cabinet that sits atop two new 4’5″ x 8’3″ Watchfire 6mm digital signs. The previous sign Luminous created for The Clayworks in 2017 was a Gold Award winner in the 2018 Watchfire LED Sign Awards.

Operated by Disability Supports of the Great Plains, a unique caring community committed to providing the best in full-time and part-time services to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, The Clayworks serves as the organization’s creative hub for artists of all abilities.

In addition to art studios, The Clayworks includes a store and gallery where people can purchase pieces of art made by the talented people of Disability Supports, and enjoy works from local and regional artists. The new sign is used to enhance the visibility of The Clayworks by sharing events and news, and visually featuring the efforts of the center’s artists.

“Our sign company partners continue to inspire us with beautiful and functional LED displays that serve both as iconic landmarks and communications mediums,” says David Warns, Watchfire’s vice president of on-premise sales. “In addition to our grand prize winner, we are honoring 11 gold winners this year who have set an impressive industry benchmark. Congratulations to Luminous Neon and all our 2023 winners.”
