NEWARK, N.J.- Unionwear wins the inaugural Reshoring Award from the Reshoring Initiative and SEAMS, the domestic textile manufacturing association. The manufacturer employs 180 workers in Newark, New Jersey.

True to the name, Unionwear specializes in union-made hats, bags, and binders. The company caters to the promotional, fashion, and uniform markets. The manufacturer received the award at SEAMS’ annual conference in Savannah, Georgia earlier this month. The event recognized Unionwear along with other domestic apparel and textile makers striving to create jobs in the U.S. Unionwear earned the award in the Sewn Products category.

The company points to its technology as a significant part of its growth and accomplishments.

“Unionwear’s technological innovations have leveled the playing field with imports by highlighting small batch, quick turn manufacturing,” the company says in an announcement. The manufacturer uses a  predictive configuration tool (http://www.trillionhats.com) which enables the sale of custom-made products using a traditional website experience “rather than a cumbersome online configurator, while its mobile ERP platform automates purchasing, production scheduling, manufacturing, and shipping,” the company says.
