Ham Lake, Minnesota-based Safety Speed Manufacturing, manufacturers of panel processing machinery used in sign making, celebrated National Manufacturing Day on Oct. 4 by hosting Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Along with the local Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce Manufacturing CoHort, the governor came to Safety Speed to celebrate the day and also to kick off National Manufacturing Month.

According to the company, Minnesota’s Department of Labor and Industry also played a key role in this celebration. DLI commissioner Nancy Leppink and assistant commissioner Heather McGannon and (DLI’s) Pipeline program consultant were on hand representing the Minnesota DLI.

“Aimed at highlighting the importance of our close-knit manufacturing industry, roughly 20 manufacturing companies from across Anoka County came together,” the company says. “A special appreciation goes out to our local leaders in the community who joined. We’re proud to be an active member in the Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce Manufacturing CoHort and committed to keeping manufacturing careers in the county.”

The company added that 19% of Anoka County’s workforce is in manufacturing and the county has the second-highest concentration of manufacturing companies in Minnesota.
