Employees of NBM (National Business Media) and its various publications come together to race in the Colfax Marathon on May 19 in Denver, Colorado. The Colfax Marathon is the largest marathon weekend in the Rocky Mountains, and 2019 marks the second year NBM employees have created a team for the cause.

According to the race’s website, the “Colfax Marathon Partnership is a nonprofit 501c3 with the mission of producing the premier marathon weekend in the Mountain West Region, committed to community, philanthropy, and fun.”

Initially, the race launched as a way to recognize Colfax Avenue-the longest main street in America running through Denver, Lakewood, and Aurora. Today, the event has grown into a nationally recognized event.

NBM’s team for 2019 is dubbed ‘NBM-Nothin’ But Mileage’ and is comprised of five team members-Dave Pomeroy, VP of publishing; Stacy Marshall, publisher of Printwear magazine; Mike Clark, associate editor of Printwear magazine; Becca Corona, marketing specialist for NBM; and Cassie Green, editor of A&E magazine. Together they will complete the coed corporate relay, which is a total of 26.2 miles through the Mile-High City.

Similar to the company’s participation in 2016, the team runs to fundraise and raise awareness for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Green, who acts as Colfax Marathon team captain, as well as other NBM employees and their family members have a personal connection to the foundation, some dealing with Type 1 diabetes. “In addition to running to raise funds/awareness, we’re all immersed in the running community and like to look for races throughout the year. It just so happens that this is a team event, so it allows us to enjoy our passion together!” she adds.

Next Level Apparel donated T-shirts for the race, Printwear‘s art director Erik Wogen designed the T-shirt graphic, and industry veteran Lon Winters of Graphic Elephants printed the shirts.

Clark says, “Colfax is always an exciting race since it cuts through the heart of Denver and has such a longstanding tradition with the city. It’s great that we can put our energy towards such a noble cause this year too!”
