Hibbett Sports Announces CEO Transition Plan
Hibbett Sports announces the retirement of company president and CEO Jeff Rosenthal.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-Hibbett Sports announces the retirement of company president and CEO Jeff Rosenthal. Hibbett’s board of directors plans to commence a search for a new CEO and says Rosenthal will remain in his position until a successor is named.
“We are fortunate to be able to have a seamless transition of leadership at Hibbett Sports,” states Mickey Newsome, chairman of the board. “Jeff has served Hibbett for over 21 years and has contributed significantly to its growth. He has worked tirelessly over the past several years leading the company in a very difficult retail environment. He has created a foundation for the Company’s success as we move forward, and we thank him.”
As part of the transition, Hibbett says Rosenthal plans to assist in the search for a new CEO and help finalize the changeover.
“I have been privileged to lead Hibbett Sports over the past nine years as president and CEO,” states Rosenthal. “I am proud of our accomplishments during that time having built a world-class e-commerce website and most recently completing our first significant acquisition. I believe that the company is well positioned, and it is an appropriate time to begin a transition.”
The announcement comes as the latest significant change for the company. In late 2017, BSN Sports announced the acquisition of a portion of the assets of Hibbett Team Sales, the team dealer subsidiary of Hibbett Sporting Goods.
