BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Fruit of the Loom donates more than $56,200 to the United Way. The company raised funds during its yearly charity golf tournament at Crosswinds Golf Course in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Sept. 14.

The 2019 game marks the 20th year Fruit of the Loom has participated in the event. The donation from Fruit of the Loom goes towards the United Way’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which helps provide books to local children in preparation for kindergarten. The organization operates library branches throughout the U.S., as well as Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Children newborn to age five are eligible for the program in the county in which it is offered. Once registered, children receive one, age-appropriate book mailed directly to their home each month until the age of five. As of late, the library has reportedly sent more than 266,000 books to more than 11,000 children in multiple Kentucky counties and distributed more than 103 million books since its inception in 1995.

The tournament marks the latest in regular contributions by Fruit of the Loom to the United Way. In late July 2019, the company took part in the United Way Day of Caring which features a series of projects across greater Kentucky to restore and improve various parks and public areas.
