Charles River Apparel recently demonstrated its commitment to environmental stewardship and community support through two significant initiatives in collaboration with the Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA).

On Earth Day, the company’s team members came together to clean up 15 trash bags of litter along the Charles River. Additionally, Charles River Apparel sponsored CRWA’s “Run of the Charles” paddling race by donating 100 personalized shirts to event volunteers to support the association’s ongoing efforts to maintain the Charles River.

“The Charles River has always been integral to our company’s identity,” said Jason Lipsett, vice president of strategic initiatives at Charles River Apparel. “Participating in the Earth Day cleanup and sponsoring the ‘Run of the Charles’ highlight our dedication to preserving the Charles River and supporting our local community.”

Founded in 1965, CRWA has been dedicated to cleaning the river and its watershed, which spans over 308 square miles and serves nearly a million people. The association leverages science, law, and advocacy to achieve its mission of protecting and restoring the Charles River.

As one of the largest Earth Day cleanups in the country, this year over 500 individuals volunteered at 30 sites from Newton to Norfolk. Charles River Apparel’s team volunteered at Cutler Park, a 600-acre park that is home to over 100 species of birds and protects the largest remaining freshwater marsh in the middle of the Charles River.

In addition to sponsoring the Earth Day cleanup, Charles River Apparel also sponsored and donated personalized apparel to CRWA’s “Run of the Charles,” a paddling race that attracts hundreds of spectators and participants. Charles River Apparel’s sponsorship will help CRWA continue its year-long initiatives, such as advocating for nature-based solutions, monitoring water quality, and more.

Charles River Watershed Association is grateful for the dedicated support of Charles River Apparel for over 15 years,” said Emily Norton, executive director at CRWA. “Their commitment as volunteers, sponsors, and donors of high-quality products through events like the Cleanup and Run of the Charles allows us to continue working towards a clean, resilient Charles River for all.”
