Michael A. Cornicello — U.S. Army veteran, member of the awards industry for 46 years, and father to Michael C. Cornicello of Marco Awards Group — passed away on April 10, 2020. He is survived by his wife Ruth of over 60 years, three sons and their spouses (Richard and Ashley, John, and Michael C. and Donna), as well as six grandchildren.

“He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather as well as friend to many, many people,” states his son Michael C. He explains that as a young man, his father originally planned to work as a police officer in New York City, but when his father-in-law asked him if he wanted a job, he began working at Arlen Trophy in 1959.

From working for and representing companies such as Arlen, Simco, Plastic Dress-Up, Freeman Products, Barhill, and Alenite, Michael A. saw first-hand how the awards industry evolved over time, according to his son. After he retired in the early 2000s, Michael A. spent time in Florida with his wife.

Due to the global health concerns, there will be no services held at this time. The family is planning something for when the quarantine in New Jersey has been lifted. Any kind thoughts can be sent to MichaelCornicello@gmail.com and will be passed on to Michael A.’s wife.

The family asks that any donations in his memory be sent in form of personal protection equipment (PPE) or funds to your local emergency services.
