Atlantis Headwear, a sustainable headwear manufacturer, recently announced its involvement with the “Pollinate the Planet” initiative, a movement stressing the importance of the earth’s pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

To show their support for the “Pollinate the Planet” initiative, Atlantis Headwear partnered with 3bee to sponsor a “biodiversity oasis” — a biomonitoring hive that will observe the health status of more than 300,000 bees. Located in Veneto, Italy, the region where Atlantis Headwear’s Italian headquarters is based, the “Atlantis Headwear Oasis” will not only help the individual hive thrive but will contribute to further pollination research.

Bees are a fundamental link in the food chain and are responsible for approximately 80% of the food we eat every day. The bee population has taken a major hit in recent years due to factors such as climate change, habitat loss, pesticides, and predators. According to the Italian National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, approximately 9% of pollinating insects are at risk of extinction.

To protect these essential but often overlooked creatures, agri-tech company, 3bee, has developed a new technology they’ve coined “HiveTech”. Through “HiveTech,” 3bee monitors and protects existing hives using biometric sensors. These sensors and microphones constantly collect data about the bees’ health and their environment. The data collected is not only used to protect the individual hive but is also used by over 15 universities and research centers to study bees and other pollinators.

“At Atlantis Headwear, we believe in the power of collaboration to drive positive change, and our association with 3bee exemplifies this commitment,” says Federico Pasini, Atlantis Headwear vice president. “Together, we amplify the message of pollinator importance, reflecting our commitment to a greener future.”
