When to Use a Non-PVC Sandcarving Film Over a Self-Stick Film

Those with both a laser engraver and sandcarving equipment often ask this question.

Non-PVC sandcarving film is popular among laser engravers because it is easy to use, and you can bypass printing your artwork as well as exposing and washing out the photoresist film.

There are some situations, however, where a laser engraver should consider using self-stick photoresist film in place of a non-PVC film. If you have odd or large shapes that won’t fit in your laser or you have a high-volume order, use a self-stick photoresist film. This way you are not tying up your laser-cutting stencils.
