The Balance of Sales and Service

You cannot have one without the other.

We must give our clients good value for their dollar. Value can come in many forms, but it has to satisfy the buyer and make them feel as if they got the best part of the deal. Without service, your sales will not be repeated. The service after the sale is the mark of an excellent business and often the difference between success and simply hoping for success.

Most good salespeople are not service people. Good salespeople are constantly looking for the next account or order. Service differs from sales, in that service takes time to listen and fulfill the wants and needs of the buyer. The problem with many salespeople is they like to control the conversation, and sometimes that doesn’t always involve listening. But sales and service people need to listen in order to sell and service the client. These two parts of your business are both needed in order to balance your business.
