Tech Show Attendees Get a Hands-On Look at Roland DG Technology
Roland introduced its print-on-demand software app, cotodesign, late last year. It allows retailers to print items using artwork or photos from customers' phones.
Irvine, California-based Roland DGA, the U.S. division of the Japan-based printer company, recently showed off its latest digital imaging technologies at the SIGGRAPH 2019 conference, which was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Attendees to what is described as the world’s largest computer graphics conference were able to stop by the Roland booth and print images from their smartphones directly onto notebooks or tote bags using Roland’s cotodesign app, which it introduced last December. Depending on the substrate, the graphics were printed onto either a a VersaUV LEF-300 flatbed printer or a VersaSTUDIO BT-12 direct-to-garment printer.
The company says that in all, Roland booth visitors created more than 1,500 personalized items over the course of the event. In addition to showcasing the LEF-300 and BT-12, Roland DGA also displayed its MDX-540 benchtop CNC mill and BN-20 desktop inkjet printer/cutter at SIGGRAPH 2019.
“Having our flatbed printer and five direct-to-garment printers in the booth, along with our cotodesign app, gave a large number of attendees the chance to get up close and personal with our technology,” says Roland DGA application specialist Kevin Rosen. “Attendees were amazed at how simple our devices are to operate, and how they make customizing practically anything easier than ever.”
