Stahls’ Teams Up with Red Wings Alumni for Charity Hockey Game
The November 10th match takes place as part of a weekend-long salute to military veterans.
Stahls’ partners with alumni from the Detroit Red Wings for a charity hockey game. The event takes place Nov. 10 at the Civic Arena in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.
The Nov. 10 game features a mix of veterans from the professional Michigan hockey team, Stahls’ employees, and staff family and friends gearing up on the ice. The match takes place as part of a weekend-long salute to military veterans, explains Paul Sabatini, product manager of letters & numbers/sports at Stahls’. Following the game, Ted Stahl, executive chairman of the board of GroupeSTAHL, opens doors on his antique car museum on Veteran’s Day to veterans and the general public. “That’s why we call it ‘Power Play for Heroes,'” adds Sabatini. 2018 marks the fourth year Stahl has invited vets to visit the car museum, and the fourth year Stahls’ has held its annual charity hockey game.
While the company typically doesn’t receive commitments on specific players until a week before the game, Sabatini says hall-of-famer Ted Lindsay will be in attendance, and organizers plan to honor Lindsay during the game. Stahls’ also honors veterans before the game with an opening face-off and provides them a custom-decorated Stahls’ team jersey.
The traditions of military service and hockey are both a common theme for the company, Sabatini points out.
“(The company) has family members that have served in the military, and Ted (Stahl) loves the game of hockey, so this is the model we’ve developed,” he adds.
In addition to the hockey match, the day’s agenda includes other activities for attendees such as a photo booth, a raffle, and Red Wings memorabilia. Proceeds from the event benefit Guardian Angels, a medical service dog organization that pairs dogs with veterans.
The Nov. 10 game starts at 12 p.m. and costs $10. Admission is free for children 10 years or younger.
