Signmob Completes Exterior Graphics for Art Gallery

Victoria, Australia-based sign-making specialist Signmob produces exterior graphics for an exhibition at the Bendigo Art Gallery.

The gallery is currently playing host to an exhibition by renowned British designer and fashion icon Mary Quant and enlisted the help of Signmob to help promote the event.

SignmobSignmob faced some challenges during the project, including selecting a film that would stand the test of time in all weather. They also had to ensure the film would accurately reflect Quant’s work and style, with the final print required to match Quant’s artistic qualities and talent across a large area spanning 36′ X 36′.

With the exhibition running through the summer, from March to July 2021, Signmob opted for Drytac’s Polar Grip white polymeric PVC film, which works on metal, plastic, wood, glass, and brick.

Signmob signmaker and signwriter Bill May says the shop chose this film based on a recommendation from its rep at The Shann Group, a distributor for Drytac.

“He provided us with samples for testing a few months prior to the start of the project, and they were everything he promised,” May says.

Signmob covered the entire façade of the gallery with 750mm-wide rolls of white matte film, replicating some of the world-famous designs by Quant. It also printed text of the artist’s name using a Roland SOLJET Pro III XC-540 54″ printer/cutter with eco-solvent Inks.

May adds that the project has already received positive feedback, and the materials and equipment used allowed the Signmob team to “provide something not usually seen in Bendigo.”
