San Luis Obispo Trophy Shop to Close Its Doors

After over 50 years in business, Borah’s Awards, located in San Luis Obispo, California, will close its doors. Its last day in business will be Friday, October 12th. The owners state that they recently experienced a death in the family and will be relocating to Northern California.

First opened in 1965, the shop has been owned and operated by four different local families, according to Devon Brownell, office manager. Devon’s father, Randy Brownell, currently owns the business. It got its name from the original owners, the Borah family. The business has also seen several locations over the years, Devon adds. “I believe its original location was 1404 Broad Street, and we have moved twice since then. 3001 Broad Street is our current location.”

While Friday, October 5th was the last day to place order, Devon Brownell assures customers that there are still options to get their awards needs met: “There is still one awards shop left in San Luis Obispo and their name is Trophy Hunters. They offer many of the same services we offer, and they are also a locally owned and operated business.”

“It’s been pretty amazing to work with so many locals, some who have been coming here for over 30 years,” Devon reflects. “The thing I will miss the most about Borah’s Awards is making fun and creative gifts for our customers with our engraving specialist, Nic (aka Doc), who has created hundreds of unique and creative designs for our customers’ awards, gifts, and keepsakes.”
