Rowmark Welcomes Students on Manufacturing Day
Manufacturing Day took place on October 5th this year, but Rowmark opened its doors for four days of tours.
Rowmark hosted approximately 1,000 eighth-grade students from 11 local schools to tour its Findlay, Ohio-based manufacturing facility from October 2-5. During the four days of tours at Rowmark, students viewed several different areas of the operation, including shipping, warehousing and logistics, plastic extrusion, quality testing, and fabrication.
As part of the National Association of Manufacturers’ and Manufacturing Institute’s “Dream It! Do It!” program, this all-day manufacturing experience aims to introduce students to all aspects of manufacturing and associated career opportunities. It teaches students about the advanced technologies and state-of-the-art facilities that are part of today’s manufacturing environment.
“We were very excited to host these students, introduce them to our team members, and give them a behind-the-scenes look into our manufacturing operations,” says Duane Jebbett, president and CEO. “We hope this opportunity to see Rowmark’s technology and innovation will encourage them to consider a career in manufacturing after they graduate from high school, whether it’s hands-on, or in a support role.”
“What we heard most often during the tours was that the students were surprised at how much technology was involved in our processes,” says Rich Zydonik, vice president of sales and business development. “From bar coding in the warehouse to the technology used to calibrate the thickness of the sheet materials we produce, it was an eye-opener for them to see what a modern manufacturing facility looks like.”
As part of its strategy to support the community, Rowmark participated locally in conjunction with Raise the Bar, a Hancock County initiative focused on workforce development, as well as the Findlay City Schools and Hancock County (Ohio) County Schools.
