Report: Gildan Pauses American Apparel Brick-and-Mortar Opening
Gildan shelves plans to open a flagship American Apparel store in Los Angeles.
MONTREAL-Gildan shelves plans to open a flagship American Apparel store in Los Angeles. In a recent report by Bloomberg, the company says the store is still a possibility but has been delayed for the time being.
Garry Bell, vice president of corporate marketing and communication at Gildan Activewear, tells the newspaper that the company’s primary focus is expanding the client base in the imprintables market for the brand. Gildan has also bolstered its e-commerce arm of the business, with a scope that now covers 220 countries.
Since acquiring American Apparel in early 2017, Gildan has retooled the brand with changes like shifting some production outside the U.S. and experimenting with dual pricing for domestically and internationally-made products.
