Carlstadt, New Jersey-based Pantone, a provider of professional color standards for designers, expands its Pantone Matching System (PMS) with 294 new colors. The additions bring the library to more than 2,100 total colors.

The update to the PMS catalog is the first since 2016, and Pantone says the new selections offer designers “unique benefits for every creative and professional need and an even more seamless process to transition from between physical and digital mediums.” Key features with the new colors include:

Trend-Relevant Colors with Tighter Production Links: The addition of basic colors (neutrals, tans, grays, navy, blacks) allows for the additional “achievability of colors throughout the design process” while keeping up with current trends.

Color Accuracy: According to Pantone, the newest color guides are “the most stable and consistent printed colors, matching the master standard digital data with all-new and updated cross-referenced data for closer parity between physical and digital formats.”

Pantone Colors Online: The organization now offers access to the colors in real-time through the Pantone Extension for Adobe Creative Cloud. The company says it also offers access to the colors within Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.

“By integrating the full Pantone experience, including the 294 new colors added to the Graphics library into Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, the Pantone Extension for Adobe Creative Cloud delivers simple, intuitive & collaborative color workflow management for designers,” says Vijay Vachani, Adobe senior director of partner ecosystem. “Adobe and Pantone are excited to explore more opportunities to improve the everyday lives of our shared customers.”
