New Shop Opens in Dickinson, Offers Personalized Services

The business hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 8 to officially celebrate.

On October 13, CQ Engraving officially opened its doors. Located along the I-94 Business Loop East in Dickinson, North Dakota, the business offers everything from custom T-shirts to mugs, baby gifts, and more.

Charline “Charlie” Quillian, owner, says that the inspiration for opening CQ Engraving stemmed from her want to make personalized products. “I have a long history in retail, and when my previous job ended, I started thinking about what I love to do,” she states. It started with stone carving and pet memorial statues, then rapidly grew into more. Customers can find holiday and birthday gifts, unique T-shirts, and even items for special occasions such as baby showers. “I enjoy being around people and making their occasion memorable,” she continues.

Quillian adds that the inspiration to bring more to the table than pet memorial statues grew from her understanding that a business must be more than “cookie cutter.” “I knew more things needed to get added in,” she emphasizes. It was that spirit that also caused her to add in a few other services: gift wrapping and mailing assistance. If customers purchase items and personalization services at her store, she can help with either wrapping the gift up, or even sending packages via UPS or USPS. “I figure I’ll be there anyway, so I might as well help,” she laughs.

Working alongside her are her husband and son, but she adds that a few friends step in from time to time when things get busy.
