Hanes Donates More Than $2M of Apparel to Hurricane Florence Victims
Hanes announces plans to donate roughly 350,000 pairs of underwear, socks, and T-shirts to flooding victims from Hurricane Florence.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-Hanes announces plans to donate roughly 350,000 pairs of underwear, socks, and T-shirts to flooding victims from Hurricane Florence in the Carolinas and the Southeast.
The company says it’s partnering with Delivering Good, a nonprofit charity, to distribute the apparel and accessories to victims. Hanes partnered with the organization last year to coordinate deliveries for Hurricane Harvey victims. The company estimates the package for Hurricane Florence victims at roughly $2 million.
“HanesBrands and its employees are longtime supporters of those in need in the aftermath of natural disasters here and around the world,” says Chris Fox, Hanes vice president of corporate social responsibility. “We know that victims of natural disasters have a tremendous need for the basics in life, including shelter, food, water, and clothing. We are happy that we can assist in the long road to recovery after Hurricane Florence.”
The apparel ships from the company’s multiple distribution centers in North Carolina as well as a hub near Martinsville, Virginia. Through the collaboration with Delivering Good, Hanes’ donations head to the following locations and foundations:
Georgia: Caring for Others, Atlanta.
North Carolina: Fayetteville mayor’s office and Second Harvest Foodbank of Metrolina, Charlotte.
South Carolina: Aid Unlimited, Fort Mill.
To date, Hanes has donated more than 5 million items of clothing under its Hanes For Good corporate social responsibility program. The donations include deliveries to natural disaster victims in the United States, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Japan, and elsewhere.
