Giving Back: Mactac Employees Buy Ribbons for a Cause
The company not only matched employee contributions but kicked in a little extra to bring the total donated to $3,000.
Stow, Ohio-based Mactac, a manufacturer of pressure sensitive films, recently held a fund-raiser during the month of October for three charities.
According to Brittany Eppley, marketing communications manager for the company, focusing on health is something it tries to do every month, and during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it wanted to emphasize prevention and early detection.
Company employees at all its locations throughout North America were able to purchase ribbons in someone’s honor. They then wrote the name of that person on the ribbon and they were hung up in the company’s conference rooms.
“This will show the impact cancer has on our society and reaffirm the importance of making our health a priority as well as reaffirm the importance of wellness checks and early detection,” Eppley tells SDG.
This was the first year the company has held this fundraiser, and employee contributions totaled $1,386 from all of its locations. Mactac then matched the employee contributions and added a little more, bringing the total donated to $3,000.
Donations were split among three nonprofits: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital; Stewart’s Caring Place, a cancer wellness center located in nearby Akron that offers supportive services and programs at no cost for individuals and families touched by cancer; and Candy’s Place, a cancer and wellness resource center in Forty Fort, Pennsylvania, not far from Mactac’s Scranton location.
