Giving Back: Lamar Lends its Support to Suicide Prevention Month

A 26-year-old who lost her father to suicide purchased one billboard to spread her message, and the company took notice.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based out-of-home advertising company Lamar Advertising is participating by donating space on many of its thousands of billboards around the country to project messages of hope and affirmation all month.

“You Are Enough Today/You Are Enough Everyday” is one example of the text found on some of the billboards.

Lamar says the messages were created by 26-year-old Nicole Leth of Kansas City, Missouri, who lost her father to suicide in 2010 and wanted to help others avoid that same tragedy by spreading messages of hope.

According to the company, Leth saved up and purchased a single billboard in Kansas City. The billboard’s owner, Lamar, took notice and a few weeks later reached out to her and asked her to design an entire campaign.
