Giving Back: GSG Launches Industry Fundraiser For ‘Be The Match’
Introducing this new product was a very personal thing to some of the top executives at GSG.
Dallas-based GSG (Graphic Solutions Group), a supplier to the screen, sign, digital imaging and embroidery industries, announces the release of a new product that will raise money for people needing a bone marrow transplant.
In early 2018, Payton Granberry, the daughter of GSG vice president of operations, Brandon Granberry, and GSG credit manager, Stephanie Granberry, and the granddaughter of GSG president Mark Granberry, was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia (SAA) at the age of 12. SAA is a disease where the body stops producing blood cells and destroys them. This destruction causes lower red blood cell counts, fewer platelets, and a compromised immune system. These conditions resulted in Payton needing a bone marrow transplant.
With the help of Be The Match, Payton found a donor. This nonprofit organization helps patients find life-saving marrow donors and provides support throughout the transplant process. Additionally, it manages the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world.
On Aug. 16, 2018, Payton had her “rebirthday” and received stem cells from an unrelated donor. Since her transplant, she hasn’t been hospitalized or needed any blood products. This fall, she returns to junior high as a healthy and vibrant 8th grader, according to Mark. “We are all inspired by Payton’s strength and positivity!”
To honor Payton’s successful battle and raise funds for Be The Match, GSG ordered the creation of a custom color of Siser EasyWeed heat transfer vinyl called Payton Pink. Just released on Sept. 1, all proceeds from the sales of Payton Pink will go directly to Be The Match to help others needing a bone marrow transplant.
