Florida T-Shirt Business Raises Funds for Australia Wildlife
Ryan Armstrong, the owner of the e-commerce T-shirt shop Bananaman Clothing, pledges to donate 20% of each koala T-shirt sale.
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla.-The devastating brush fires in Australia have sparked an outpouring of donations and support for the land, animals, and residents affected by the damage.
At the beginning of January, Ryan Armstrong, the owner of the e-commerce T-shirt shop Bananaman Clothing, decided to do his part to help.
Armstrong pledges to donate 20% of each “The Koala” purchase to WIRES, Australia’s largest wildlife rescue. “The Koala” is available in a T-shirt, racerback, hoodie, or toddler option and features a koala design with text that reads “Much Love Australia.”
He tells local Florida news station WPEC, “What we’re doing with these shirts is going to be a drop in the bucket, I know that. But it’s something.” He adds, “It’s amazing what social media can do for causes like this.”
As of Jan. 8, Armstrong has raised over $1,000 for the cause. Orders have come in from Australia, Canada, and all over the U.S., according to Bananaman’s Facebook page.
