Featured Project: VW Bus Replica

Andrew Long of Katazoom in Greer, South Carolina, created this wrap for Vic Bailey Volkswagon in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

“The client wanted the wrap to look like a 1969 VW bus, so we took the design cues from that era,” Long says.

Katazoom used Grimco’s WrapCast vinyl and laminate. Carol Justice designed the wrap, and George Hendrix and crew installed the wrap. The wrap took two full days to install.

Long says the bumpers were challenging because of the placement of the lights and VW bumper bars. The rear corner windows are actually an overlay on the wrap, and it looks quite convincing from the rear. Justice designed the back window to look like there was a driver in the front, which created some dimension to it. The side trim and rear vents also really help the wrap look like an old VW bus.

“It actually turned out more convincing than the proof looked, which really surprised us,” adds Long.
