Featured Project: Updated Signage Made Progressive Field Progressively Better
Better Electric Sign Co. was founded in Cleveland in 1929 and is a full-service sign and graphics shop.
When the Cleveland Indians Major League Baseball franchise decided it was time to re-brand and update the signage at its ballpark, Progressive Field, it turned to hometown sign company Brilliant Electric Sign Co.
According to Brilliant, updating the signage required more than 650 new and replacement signs as well as large-format graphics, meaning that whichever company was hired for the project, it had to have experience working with stadiums and other very large sporting venues.
Brilliant Electric Sign’s background includes work done at Progressive Field (formerly Jacobs Field), Browns Stadium and Quicken Loans Arena.
The company says there were plenty of challenges: there was a tight three-month deadline to get the project completed; approvals of the signage had to go through layers of the Indians’ local organization as well as Major League Baseball; and since the work was being done in the off-season-winter-that meant dealing with the extreme weather that Northeast Ohio sees.
