Featured Project: Ivory in 3D

Andesign wanted to show what its Massivit 3D printer has the capability of doing, and it looks like they succeeded.

This featured project comes to us from Israel-based 3D printer company Massivit Printing Technologies, which wanted to report how one of its customers was using the Massivit 1800 3D printer it purchased.

Andesign is a large-format print shop based in Birmingham, England. It recently used its Massivit printer to produce a huge 3 ½-meter x 2-meter (11 ½’ x 6 ½’) African elephant head.

Once printed, Andesign gave the would-be mammal a coat of paint and affixed it to the outside of its own building, adding in some other special effects to make it look like the elephant is crashing through the front of its building. The purpose, according to Andesign, was to demonstrate to customers that it’s a shop that can help get them noticed with high-profile creative projects.
