Featured Project: An Electric Cherry-Top Down Under
Exotic Graphix is located in the Victoria province in Australia, and wrapped the first-ever all-electric vehicle being used by its local police department.
Nick Caminiti and his crew at Australia’s Exotic Graphix were chosen to wrap the first all-electric police car in that country.
The Victoria Police Department, in the same province in which Exotic is located, purchased a Tesla Model X as part of a feasibility study being conducted to see if going all-electric could be in the police department’s future.
The Tesla Model X has a claimed maximum range of up to 550 kilometers-or about 342 miles-and a top speed of 250 kilometers an hour-or about 155 miles per hour.
According to a press release, Tesla engineers and emergency equipment manufacturers worked hand-in-hand with Victoria Police information technology and communications technicians in setting up the car, making sure the patrol car’s hardware and software integrates seamlessly with the Telsa’s equipment.
“Our Highway Patrol cars are equipped with cutting edge technology and this car gives us the opportunity to investigate having these technologies in a fully integrated in-car system which has the potential of streamlining the road policing effort,” says Stephen Leane of the Victoria Police.
Caminiti called it a privilege to design and install the graphics. He says on Facebook that he used a full 3M reflective wrap with fluorescent overlays. The door jams were also done in a seamless design and a reflective printed lightbar design went on the pillars and door jams to help with nighttime visibility of the vehicle.
“We enjoyed every part of this project and thank you to our whole team for always pushing the boundaries,” Caminiti says.
