Elliott Celebrates 70th Year in Business, Prepares for Relocation
When Richard Elliott started the company he built one machine at a time and then drove them across the country to drum up interest-a true traveling salesman.
Omaha, Nebraska-based lift truck maker Elliott Equipment Co. announces the celebration of its 70th year in business. And it’s doing so just as the company is undergoing a major relocation of its physical space.
According to an article by Cindy Gonzalez in the Omaha World Herald, the company is consolidating its operations, which are currently spread out over five locations, into a 208,000-square-foot building. It hopes to be moved in by mid-2019.
According to company lore, Richard Elliott was the first to develop a truck-mounted, telescoping aerial work platform and crane. Company history says he built one machine at a time, and drove each one from city to city all across the country, drumming up business that way.
According to the World-Herald, Elliott is investing almost $14 million in the move and expansion.
The sign industry is just one of many where Elliott vehicles are used.
