Cropping an Image for a Better Design

Achieve a stronger design by cropping distracting elements out of an image.

You’ve got a photo that’s not so great, with distracting elements in the image. Wonder why Instagram is so popular? Go square. Crop the image to a square and it can change how the image looks. Cropping is a great opportunity to change the mood of a photograph. With your Crop tool settings (using Illustrator), I suggest allowing for a shaded preview so you can easily see where you will be cropping. For a true square, hold down the shift key while you drag out the Crop tool.
