We had a 250-piece job come in the door that needed engraving centered on two sides for a total of 500 engravings. To save time, we created a simple acrylic jig that we taped to the laser table.
If you attempt this job without the jig, it is going to take a great deal longer as each engraved side needs to be individually lined up every time you place a new part on the table. I would estimate that this would add an hour to an hour and a half to the total job time. By creating the simple jig, you can drop a part in and hit run. The engravings come out perfectly lined up every time, and you don’t have to spend time eyeballing each part for correct alignment. It took 10 minutes to measure, draw out, and cut the jig.
