ST. JOHNS, Fla.-BSN Sports donates $15,000 to youth baseball program Field of Dreams at its Opening Day on Feb. 2. Field of Dreams, located in St. Johns County, Florida, is a specially designed baseball field built for children with mental and physical disabilities. The program serves to give children the chance to wear a uniform and play baseball as a member of a team.
On Feb. 2, Field of Dreams celebrated its opening day of the spring baseball season, and according to a report from The St. Augustine Record, BSN Sports presented a $15,000 check to help the program in its efforts.
The report states, “Field of Dreams baseball is the first phase of a three-part vision the (program) has for disabled athletes in Northeast Florida. The second portion is a boundless playground that will be beyond the right-field fence. The third phase, a track where Special Olympians can compete, is a long-range goal.”
Field of Dreams coordinator Chuck Forcier says $137,000 of the $300,000 goal has been raised to help turn those visions into reality.
BSN Sports’ relationship with Creeks Athletic Association is what connected the Texas-based sportswear company to Field of Dreams.
