Los Gatos, California-based digital signage media player manufacturer BrightSign announces that its Series 4 media players are certified for use in temperatures as low as -20° Celsius (-4 Farenheit).

At launch, BrightSign’s Series 4 players were rated for use in temperatures up to 70° C – a feat achieved via BrightSign’s patented aluminum case design. This recent certification for low-temperature use establishes a 90-degree Celsius extended thermal operational range for BrightSign’s players, according to the company, making them ideal for use in virtually any extreme-temperature setting.

The company notes that the rapid rise in digital signage used in outdoor applications is placing a renewed emphasis on companies’ products to be able to withstand extreme environmental conditions.

“Operating at high temperatures is a common requirement for our players because they’re frequently installed in confined spaces with limited ventilation,” says BrightSign CEO Jeff Hastings. “But with rapidly expanding use-cases, we see a growing demand for players rated for low-temperature operation. Certifying our players for use at -20° C makes them a perfect choice for any project where the hardware will be exposed to extreme cold.”
