BERNINA of America Partners with Anti-Human Trafficking Nonprofit

AURORA, Ill. –BERNINA of America forms a new partnership with Rethreaded, a nonprofit that provides a second chance at life through employment for survivors of human trafficking.

Based in Jacksonville, Florida, Rethreaded provides employment opportunities for trafficking survivors in roles including production, inventory, sales, marketing, and finance. The organization sells accessories like handbags and throws, which generate funds to help put survivors on track toward a new career. The nonprofit also works as a distributor and sells products from like-minded companies and has benefitted more than 4,000 women to date. The two organizations established the partnership at a recent dealer conference, which helped raise more than $14,000 for Rethreaded.

“We are very pleased to partner with an established brand like BERNINA,” says Kristen Keen, founder of Rethreaded. “Our mission at Rethreaded is to renew hope, reignite dreams, and release potential for survivors of human trafficking locally and globally through business. Through these types of partnerships and generous donations, we can help more women achieve the support they need to transition to a new life.”

During the conference, BERNINA dealers toured Rethreaded’s retail store and viewed their handmade items. In addition to a series of donations, BERNINA hosted a silent auction for the organization. The company says it is also donating a BERNINA 350 PE sewing machine to solidify the partnership.
