Aligning Stencils on Stone for Sandcarving
You may have to break the stencil into pieces to avoid cracks and bumps on the stone
When preparing to sandcarve stone, sometimes you have to cut the stencil apart and piece each individual line onto the stone to avoid the worst cracks and bumps.
I do not like to do that, since it somewhat changes the layout from the one presented to the customer, but at times that just can’t be helped. Once you have the stencil in hand, position it on the stone and tape it down somewhere close to the middle of the stencil.
