At its annual shareholder meeting in Mortsel, Belgium, in early March, the Agfa-Gevaert Group updated attendees on the major changes it has undergone to its organizational structure.

The global company, based in Belgium but with its U.S. headquarters in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, produces a range of imaging systems and IT solutions that serve two distinct industries: printing and health care.

The Agfa-Gevaert Group has now essentially divided itself into two entities: Agfa HealthCare and Agfa.

All of the IT (information technology)-related activities of the former Agfa HealthCare business group will now be under that new entity’s umbrella. Meanwhile, Agfa will include all the activities of the former Agfa Graphics and Agfa Specialty Products business groups, as well as the imaging portion of the former Agfa HealthCare business group.

The newly-created Agfa portion of the company is divided into three divisions: the Offset Solutions division (the prepress business of the former Agfa Graphics business group); the  Digital Print & Chemicals division (the inkjet business of the former Agfa Graphics business group and the activities of the former Agfa Specialty Products business group); and the Radiology Solutions division (the imaging activities of the former Agfa HealthCare business group).

According to the company, “This simplified divisional structure is technology- and solutions-based and will allow Agfa to seek future partnerships.”
