Photoresist allows for more options overall. Because there are multiple options for film thicknesses with photoresist, you can get better detail and better depth in your etching.
Also, when using laser tape, it can be difficult to do curved surfaces. Photoresist, on the other hand, can be wrapped around curves with ease.
